Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, tickets must be purchased in advance. Tours often sell out so we suggest purchasing your tickets early to guarantee your desired tour day. You can buy your tickets either online or by phone with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
Are discounts available?
There are different price categories for seniors, students, and museum members. Discounts are also occasionally announced on the company’s social media.
Is museum admission included in the ticket price?
Yes, your ticket includes the museum admission.
Who is our guide?
Our tours are designed by Professor Andrew Lear and led by Professor Lear and his team of assistants, all PhDs in Art History or advanced candidates for the PhD in Art History in leading departments.
Do you sell tour gift certificates?

Are tours available in languages other than Engish?
Private tours can be arranged in French, German, or Italian.
Do you offer private or group tours?
Yes, private group tours are available. Group tour hours and fees vary from our regular schedule. Please click on the “Contact” link to schedule a private tour for your group.
Is this tour age appropriate for younger guests?
The Shady Ladies and Hidden Secrets are not appropriate for pre-teens.
Does the museum allow photography?
Yes! You are welcome to take photos during the tour, for non-commercial purposes. The Met prohibits flash photography and video cameras, however.
Can I bring a bag/backpack or store my luggage?
The Met has very strict policies regarding bags and luggage. Backpacks, packages, and large umbrellas must be checked at the coat-check facility. Oversized backpacks and luggage (including carry-on bags) cannot be brought inside the museum or checked at coat-check, so be sure to leave these at home! We recommend traveling light to avoid waiting on lines at coat-check!
Is parking available?
Yes, there is a parking garage within the Met as well as a number of garages in the area. Keep in mind that daily parking rates do apply, and you should leave yourself extra time to arrive at the meeting location punctually after parking.
How much walking or standing will there be? Are there stairs?
We will be on our feet for the majority of the two-hour tour. Guests will have the opportunity to sit down at a few points on the tour, but we generally use the stairs.
Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the Met is wheelchair accessible. This tour can accommodate wheelchair users. The entrance at 5th Ave and 81st St is accessible. Personal wheelchairs (manual and electric), mobility scooters, and walkers are welcome; the Met provides manual wheelchairs free of charge on a first-come first-serve basis at the 5th Ave and 81st St entrance.
Is there a gift shop?
Yes, the Met has gift shops. While we will not have time to visit them during the tour, we absolutely encourage you to visit them afterwards. Your guide will be happy to direct you to one of the gift shops after the tour.
Are refreshments available for purchase?
There are cafes, bars, and a cafeteria in the museum; we will not have time to visit them during the tour, but guests can visit them before or after the tour. Bringing food and drinks from outside into the museum is strictly prohibited, except for water in plastic bottles.
What should I wear?
We recommend that you dress comfortably and wear shoes for walking as you will be on your feet for the majority of the tour.
What about bad weather?
These tours take place entirely within the Metropolitan Museum, so tours will take place rain or shine.
Are pets allowed on the tour?
No, pets are not permitted, except for certified service dogs.
